Week 2 Sexy 7 Picks

Last week's record 3-3. My FSU pick got taken off the board due to a change in location from Jacksonville to Tallahassee, thank god. I did get screwed by a late Stanford defensive scoop and score against Northwestern otherwise, we would have opened with a winning record.

This week's picks.

Arkansas +7 vs. Ole Miss

Ole Miss is not a very good defensive team and to add salt to the wound now they look lost on offense. That doesn't bode well at all for their prospects this year. Arkansas meanwhile is playing with energy under Chad Morris so I expect them to come out with nothing to lose, while Ole Miss plays tight.

Central Michigan +35 vs. Wisconsin, and the Over 51.5

Take away the scandalous photos with a shark and a poor year 3 at Florida and you'll find that Jim McElwain is a pretty good football coach. Mac went 22-16 at Colorado State and 22-12 at Florida, including two SEC East titles. He is a good offensive coach and the Chipps will put up some points on a Badger defense that wasn't tested the week prior by South Florida. The Badgers will have no trouble scoring against Central Michigan so this should hit the over midway through the 3rd quarter.

South Florida vs. Georgia Tech Under 60

I would have bet this if the over/under total was 50. Georgia Tech is transitioning from the triple-option offense under Paul Johnson to a pro-style under Geoff Collins and with that comes a bogged down offense with components that don't fit the machine. South Florida struggled to score on a mediocre Wisconsin defense so I see this being somewhere along the lines of a 23-17 type game.

Vanderbilt +8 vs. Purdue

Vandy is way too tough to be getting over a touchdown. The Commodores also have enough offensive pieces led by stud tailback Ke'Shawn Vaughn to give the Purdue defense problems. Vandy will pick off turnover-prone Purdue quarterback Elijah Sindelar late to preserve a 28-24 outright upset.

Tulane vs. Auburn Over 50

Auburn Head Coach Gus Malzahn called a very conservative game against Oregon because he had a true freshman quarterback going up against a top 20 team. Now that the Tigers survived that game Gus will open up the play-book and the Tigers will score close to 50 on their own.

Army +23 vs. Michigan

Army is a much better team than Middle Tennessee State, so if the Wolverines struggled against MTSU, they've really got their hands full with Army. Jeff Monken is one of the most underrated coaches in the biz and he will have his team playing toe to toe with the maize and blue.
